Hydration of the skin is a common concern and can become more apparent as we age, and fine lines appear and tissue elasticity reduces.
If hydration is a priority for you, we recommend booking a consultation with a SILK Aesthetic Nurse. During your consultation, a full facial assessment will take place and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your cosmetic goals. How does dehydration occur?
All skin types can experience dehydration of the skin. Not to be confused with dry skin which is usually a lack of sebum in the skin, dehydrated skin can be caused by a few contributing factors causing a lack of moisture in the deeper layers of the skin.
These can include;
- Lack of water
- The environment. Whether its seasonal changes or exposure to air conditioning and wind our environment cand cause dehydration
- Natural ageing and the decrease of oil production in the skin.
- Diet and lifestyle. Caffeine, sleep, sugar and alcohol can impact hydration levels.
