Stimulate collagen to tighten and rejuvenate the skin
From brightening your skin to rejuvenating your overall appearance, PDO Mono Threads stimulate natural collagen and elastin within the skin. Tightening facial contours and improving loose tissue in a single session, these single smooth threads are placed beneath the epidermis to encourage cell renewal in a minimally invasive manner.

How it Works
Threads are placed under the skin via needle in the lower part of the face, neck, jaw and jowls once a topical numbing cream is applied for your comfort. Made from polydioxanone (PDO), the threads eventually dissolve while stimulating collagen and elastin production, creating a tightening effect.
Once the needle is removed the threads remain in place for up to six months and then slowly dissolve. They start dissolving at approximately 3 months but the collagen stimulation can last up to 12 months. This long-lasting effect is due to improvement of the skin condition due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin.
After treatment clients feel a refreshed and voluminous effect as the skin feels and appears tighter and firmer.
The Process

Consultation + Aftercare
Before starting your treatment, you will need a consultation with the Injecting Practitioner who will conduct an online consultation with the Prescribing Practitioner. From the consultation, an assessment of your treatment plan and prescription will be completed.
The procedure may take between 30-60 minutes, and the area is numbed for your comfort, with the amount of product administered and desired result from the treatment.
The area will feel tender to touch, it is best to avoid touching the area for at least 2 hours post-treatment for the injection sites to heal. Swelling is to be expected in the treatment area for up to 2 days post-treatment; using a cool compress can be used to help with comfort.
Immediate aftercare:
Sleep elevated and on your back to help reduce swelling (use multiple pillows).
Bruising can occur after treatment and can last for up to 2 weeks, use Arnica tablets, cream, or spray to reduce the signs, or Yellow LED light therapy.
Paracetamol can be used for pain relief, avoiding ibuprofen as swelling is part of the healing process.
Avoid exercise, hot showers, sauna, steam rooms and spas, prolonged sun exposure and excessive alcohol consumption for 48 hours post-treatment.

PDO Mono treatments are relatively risk-free, however around 10% of patients may experience unwanted side effects a few days after receiving the treatment which could include:
Bruising and discomfort around the injected area.
Headaches, nausea and in the worst cases experience flu-like symptoms.
When booking an online consultation, a $50 deposit it taken this is fully refundable should you not be suitable for any SILK treatment options. The most accurate way to understand cost is during a consultation with one of our Aesthetic Nurses. Due to TGA and AHPRA regulation we are not permitted to advertise costs for S4 medications.
An improvement may be observed immediately after treatment with a visible plumping effect in the treated areas. 14 days is recommended for full effect.
This will improve over a period of 2-6 months as new collagen is produced between the threads, thereby exerting further tightening to the skin.
Mono threads dissolve within approx. 200 days, however they induce new collagen by release of growth factors and fibroblast activation which can last for 6 months- 1 year depending on the patient’s condition.
Retreatment is recommended at approx. 6 months
