How it works
Chill-out your unwanted, superficial fat cells and eliminate them, thanks to cryolipolysis over a 12 week period, while nerves, skin and muscle remain unharmed – only fat cells hate the cold, it’s time to freeze them out!
After the treatment in the targeted area, your CoolSculpting® technician will massage the treated area which damages the crystallised cells so the body is unable to repair them.
While regular weight loss causes cells to shrink, CoolSculpting® reshapes your body, saying goodbye to stubborn cells for good! As the damaged cells die over 2-3 days, they eventually flush out of your body between 2-4 months – meaning there’s no loose skin, just sculpted, lasting results!

CoolSculpting® is a highly customised procedure. During your initial consultation, your SILK technician will put together your treatment plan based on your full body assessment and your personal goals. Most patients will need multiple treatments to achieve their ideal outcome. During consultation, your technician will advise you on what to expect during treatment and costs based on the applicator, number of cycles and treatment sessions required. Larger areas will require larger CoolSculpting® applicator, upon consult the selected cycles may vary slightly.

The CoolSculpting® fat-reduction procedure is specially designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas. Unlike weight-loss surgery (e.g. gastric bypass), the CoolSculpting® procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Good candidates for the CoolSculpting® procedure have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.

The CoolSculpting® procedure can treat visible fat bulges in the submental area (under the chin), thigh, abdomen and flank (love handle), along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll) and upper arm. You can discuss with the clinic about creating a customised treatment plan that’s tailored to your body and your individual goals.

The length of your CoolSculpting® treatment will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit. The latest technology of CoolSculpting® can treat a patient within 35-60 minutes depending on the applicators used. If you have limited time but have several areas of unwanted fat, some practices may even have multiple CoolSculpting® systems.

There is no specific preparation that you need to do before your CoolSculpting® treatment. Your SILK technician can give you some helpful tips though on what to expect and what to bring to your treatment session.
Once the treated fat cells are frozen, they are destroyed and are naturally processed and eliminated from the body. Results are permanent.
As the cooling begins during the first few minutes you typically feel intense cold. This should soon become bearable as the treated area numbs. With some applicators, you’ll feel some pulling as suction is applied.
After the treatment, you may feel some tingling. The area is then massaged for approximately 2 minutes. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities following their appointment.

During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations may subside as the area becomes numb.
Following the procedure, typical side effects include redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, skin sensitivity and numbness. Numbness can persist for up to several weeks. There may be a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental (under chin) treatment. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks. Though rare, some additional side effects such as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (gradual enlargement of treated area), late onset pain, freeze burn, vasovagal symptoms (may include dizziness, sweating, fast or slow heart rate, nausea, paleness, etc), subcutaneous induration/hardened tissue, hyperpigmentation and hernia may also occur. The CoolSculpting® procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting® procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinaemia (a blood protein disease), cold agglutinin disease (a rare anaemic autoimmune disease) or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria (a rare autoimmune disease).

The CoolSculpting® procedure is non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities almost immediately. Often, clients return to work directly after their CoolSculpting® treatment, this will vary between people and may be dependent on treatment area.
Most patients see results between 2 and 6 months following treatment. Your body will still continue to naturally remove the destroyed fat cells for up to 4 to 6 months after treatment.
