Lumixa™ is a topical gel by biotech company FB Dermatology. Utilising innovative technology, Lumixa™ gel is activated with blue LED light. The gel performs a photoconversion – a chemical change in the skin cells affected by light. This produces Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE). This non-invasive, no downtime treatment is the key to reducing the signs of inflammaging skin and correcting intrinsic signs of ageing.
Lumixa™ Benefits

How does it work
Lumixa™ Skin Normaliser targets the signs and symptoms of Inflammageing – where inflammation occurs, accelerating the skin’s ageing process. The inflammatory response can cause damage to skin tissue leading to skin dehydration, dehydration, skin reactivity, and dull complexion. Skin Normaliser is effective in modulating skin reactivity and stress, preventing/combating inflammation, and generates a revitalising and energising effect.
Lumixa™ Collagen Booster targets the signs and symptoms of Chronoageing: It is responsible for loss of volume, alteration of the skin texture and dry skin. Lumixa Collagen Booster can be used as a corrective treatment, improves skin density and provides a plumping effect.
What is FLE (Fluoroscent Light Energy)?
FLE is a hyper-pulsed light, targeting multiple layers of the skin at once. FLE stimulates biological processes in the skin to activate the skin’s own regeneration mechanisms. It’s amazing for controlling and minimising redness, producing collagen, and enhancing your skin’s glow, bringing dull skin back to life!
Lumixa™ gel contains a patented fluorophore – a chemical compound excited by light. It has a specific energy profile that improves Inflammageing and its symptoms. It’s effective at settling skin reactivity and stress, preventing and combating inflammation, and regenerating and revitalising the skin.

Prep + Aftercare
Lumixa treatments are non-invasive and there is minimal preparation. You’ll wear goggles to block-out and protect your eyes from the LED light panels. During the treatment you will feel tingling and warmth as the gel works with the light – this is totally normal.
With no downtime, Lumixa allows you to go back to your daily life straight after the session.
What you’ll feel post-treatment:
- Mild erythema
- Temporary bronzing
- Possible temporary darkening of freckles and sunspots
Immediate aftercare:
- You’re good to commence the use of hyaluronic acid and all actives immediately after your treatment
- Minimise exercise, hot showers, pools spas and saunas for 24 hours post-treatment
- Use SPF at all times to protect your skin

The term “Inflammageing” refers to a continuous, low-level and asymptomatic inflammatory process associated with ageing. This inflammatory response can gradually cause damage to skin tissues through dehydration, skin matrix weakening, collagen and elastin degradation, skin barrier impairment, and solar lentigo.
Chronoageing is intrinsic ageing, it is mainly affected by things inside the body that you can’t see such as hormone levels and the makeup of your cells and proteins.  Such ageing process includes diminished or defective synthesis of collagen and elastin in the dermis resulting in skin’s loss of volume, alteration of the skin texture and dry skin.
Lumixa™ gel contains a fluorophore with a specific energy profile. The gel is applied to the face and activated underneath blue LED light. This performs a photoconversion which produces a spectrum of Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE). It works to control redness, produce fresh collagen production and enhance the skin’s natural glow.
LED uses a single continuous light wavelength. However, Lumixa’s FLE technology covers a range of wavelengths simultaneously. While LED is amazing for the skin, Lumixa works together with the LED light, delivering greater results.
Lumixa™ Skin Normaliser is effective against Inflammageing and its effects which are; dehydration, skin reactivity, dull complexion, etc. It is suitable for all skin types and can be used at any age to combat the first signs of skin ageing thanks to its preventive and corrective action. It can also be used to counteract free radicals and help the skin recover after summer.
Lumixa™ Collagen Booster is effective against the signs and symptoms of chronoageing: fine lines, open pores, loss of density, etc. It can be used as a corrective treatment, improves skin density and provides a plumping effect.
During your Lumixa™ light therapy, you’ll wear block-out and protect your eyes from the LED light panels. Your SILK technician will apply the gel to your face and then place the LED light over your face. It’s normal for your face to feel tingling and warmth during your treatment.
Lumixa™ is totally safe! It’s a non-destructive, pain-free treatment. The gel remains on the skin surface and is not absorbed into the skin. Lumixa is non-photosensitising, so the treatment can be used all-year-round.
With no downtime, Lumixa™ allows you to go back to your daily life straight after the session. Make-up and active products can also be applied to the skin immediately afterwards.
Lumixa™ treatment involves 5 treatments over 5 weeks. Results vary depending on the treatment protocol and skin condition. Some clients see an improvement in redness after just one single session. However, as Lumixa™ stimulates the skin’s biological processes, you’ll notice your best results after 12 weeks.
There are very few side effects with Lumixa. In sensitive skin, mild erythema may be observed due to the heat. Clients may experience bronzing of the skin and darkening of freckles and sunspots, which dissipates after the treatment course.
Efficacy and safety of Lumixa is not suitable on pregnant or breastfeeding women. We recommend you consult a doctor if you are considering using Lumixa, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant during the treatment or are breastfeeding.
