How it works
PicoSure and PicoWay are advanced Picosecond Lasers that deliver ultra-fast energy pulses to treat the skin.
Picosecond Technology – These lasers emit pulses lasting just a trillionth of a second (a picosecond), making them incredibly efficient.
The laser energy targets and breaks down pigmented cells or ink without harming the surrounding tissue. The body’s natural healing process then eliminates the fragmented particles, resulting in clearer, rejuvenated skin.

Your SILK technician will discuss the following during your consultation:
- Visual assessment of your skin
- Discussion of any previous treatments
- Explanation of how the laser works
- How to prepare for treatments
- How to care for your skin for lasting results
- Possible adverse reactions
- Personalized Treatment Plan, including all pricing options
In most cases, you can proceed with your first treatment during the consultation.
If there are any ‘red flags’ during your consultation, your SILK Laser Specialist may recommend a Test Patch before starting treatments.
- Avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks prior to and during your treatment plan. Sun exposure can increase the risk of burning, blistering, and pigment changes (e.g., post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, darkening, or hypopigmentation, lightening).
- Avoid the use of fake tan prior to treatment and ensure the treatment area is free from artificial pigments, including makeup, on the day of your appointment.
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to your initial consultation to complete necessary paperwork.
- After treatment, the area may feel like sunburn (red and warm). This typically lasts 2-12 hours, but can last up to 48 hours. If symptoms last more than 48 hours, contact your clinic.
- Avoid hot showers, baths, pools, spas, steam, saunas, and the gym for at least 48 hours. Extend avoidance if area treated is still warm or irritated.
- Apply SILK Soothing Gel every morning and night for 7 days. SILK Soothing Gel is essential: it’s anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
- We recommend reapplying the SILK Soothing Gel throughout the day.

- Tattoo removal
- Acne scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles

Yes, both PicoSure and PicoWay are safe for most skin types. The lasers are designed to minimise discomfort and risk while effectively treating a wide range of skin concerns.
The number of treatments varies based on the condition being treated. For pigmentation issues, 1-3 sessions are often sufficient, while acne scars and tattoo removal may require more treatments. Your technician will provide a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.
There is minimal downtime with PicoSure and PicoWay. You may experience slight redness or swelling immediately after the treatment, which typically subsides within a few hours. Most clients can resume regular activities the same day.
Results vary depending on the skin concern being treated, but many clients start to see improvement after just one treatment. For more complex issues, such as acne scarring or tattoo removal, it may take multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.
While some clients report a mild sensation during the treatment, it is generally not considered painful.
Yes, most people can return to normal activities right after treatment. It’s advised to avoid sun exposure and strenuous activities for 48 hours to ensure the best results and prevent irritation.
Yes, PicoSure and PicoWay are safe and effective for most skin types. However, a consultation with our SILK technician is recommended to assess your skin and determine the best treatment plan.
Both PicoSure and PicoWay are advanced picosecond laser technologies, but they have unique strengths:
- PicoSure is known for its precision in targeting pigmentation issues, such as sunspots, freckles, and melasma, while also being highly effective for tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation. It’s especially great for treating fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scarring by stimulating collagen production for smoother, youthful skin.
- PicoWay PicoWay offers versatility with a broad range of wavelengths, making it ideal for pigmentation concerns like sunspots and melasma, especially for darker skin tones. It’s also effective for tattoo removal (including stubborn colours) and improving skin texture. Known for faster results and fewer treatments, PicoWay is perfect for those seeking quick, efficient solutions.
Both PicoWay and PicoSure offer minimal downtime, fast results, and are safe for most skin types, making them excellent options for skin rejuvenation and tattoo removal.
